Major announcement from Blizzard!

After the recent astounding success of games such as Runes of Magic (nearly a million subscribers in it’s first week of release), Blizzard has announced that they are dropping the monthy subscription model and switching to “Free to Play” for World of Warcraft as well as their “Next Generation MMO”.

The announcement was first made public on their forums (click here).  Blizzard’s representative, Aphewls, said that they will utilize microtransactions “in order to generate income as well as completely obviate the market for gold sellers and power levelling services.  This, combined with our recent move to prohibit addon developers from charging for their products, shows that Blizzard has a renewed determination to prohibit others from unjustly profiting from Blizzard’s work.”

You actually kind of got me. I have been in Germany for the last 10 days and forgot all about the April Fools thing. Dammit! Nice work with all the links. Very official looking.

    lol.
