Those of you who don’t spend pretty much every waking hour buried deep in the mire of social media may not be aware of it, but there is a very special and important scientific experiment going on today. A prominent Iranian cleric (I’ll bet he has a Shadow spec) claims that the reason we’re seeing so many earthquakes recently is because too many woman in modern society dress inappropriately and behave in a promiscuous manner. In response to this “enlightened” statement, self-proclaimed perverted atheist blogger Jen McCreight declared that today, Monday April 26th, would be a day in which women should dress inappropriately to see if they could cause earthquakes. With her huge tracts of land prominently on display, Jen hopes to cause what she has appropriately dubbed a Boobquake.

I’m thinking that perhaps the image I used for the geek roundup last week would have been a better match for today. Ah well.

Unfortunately nothing I have in the way of geek news from the weekend is nearly as awesome as that, but I figure I’ll do my best to catch you up on the latest anyway.

Ok, kids. That’s all I’ve got for this week. Time to go finish stocking up on non-perishable goods so that I’m sure to survive the fallout of the Boobquake.

  1. I loved the Monty Python reference of huge tracts of land :D

  2. Also, the crazy Iranian guy sounds just like the quacks at Westboro Baptist Church (which is in fact, NOT affiliated with the Baptist church at all..) who blame the world’s tragedies on Jews (because they killed Jesus) and on gay people. Apparently 9/11, tsunamis, earthquakes, and every other tragic event was caused by God as punishment to societies that allow, approve of, condone homosexual behavior. I’d offer to organize a big gay event to see if something terrible in the world happens because of it, but quite frankly, big gay events can be scary.

  3. Big gay events can be scary? It depends…

I know that the guy who marched in a gay pride parade a few years back and who decided that skintight pants made of clear vinyl were a good idea in 90 degree heat (and no underwear) definitely scared me.

Of course, I’m not entirely sure he was gay… I was too busy gouging out my eyes with a spork.

Anyhoo, pride parades are the second best place to people-watch in Atlanta… You really never know what you’re going to see.

  4. Oh the Pride parade is always awesome. Last year a friend of mine made a suit of bubble wrap and only wore a bright green speedo under it. He was also very hairy. That’s what I mean by “big gay events can be scary.”
But you don’t need a pride parade to watch crazy gays. Just go have coffee at OutWrite on a Friday :P It’s one of my favorite things to do.

  5. [...] course, we referenced this on Monday’s Post, but you really do need to see this for yourself. April 28th, 2010 | Tags: shatner | Category: D*C [...]
