The last of our 5 convention hotels, The Hyatt, has opened room reservations for next year’s Dragon*Con.  I have heard some rumblings that rooms are still available at several of the hotels, but not necessarily at the convention rate. (Read: You’re gonna pay a lot more.)  Last I heard, the Westin still has rooms, but the Sheraton, Hilton, and Marriott are sold out (or only have rooms available through 3rd parties who contract to sell a certain number of rooms… No telling what kinds of things are available.  Priceline, Orbitz, etc… You get the idea.)

Happy Hunting!

Rooms at the Marriott for next year’s Dragon*Con went on sale at 8:00 AM this morning.  According to some sources on Twitter, Marriott’s “Passkey” system was woefully unprepared for the avalanche of Dragon*Con peeps looking for roomsAccording to the Marriott Marquis website as well as the “Passkey” website,  all rooms at the Marriott have already sold out. (for the record, it is now 8:30 AM, that’s 1569 rooms gone in a half hour.  DAMN!)

Don’t wait to make reservations folks.  This isn’t Comic-Con where you can make a room reservation the week before the convention.

It seems kind of odd that a Dragon*Con community site like ours would go so quiet in the week leading up to the big event, doesn’t it?

Fear not.  Most of my staff is camping in line for the Shatner panel on Friday, and I’m busy packing all of the loot and prizes that I’m bringing down to D*C to give away to you guys.

The schedule is out, the panels are set, and we’re ready to get our geek on.  SnarkCast and other regular features that we have throughout the year will return after the con, and after we catch up on sleep. (No… NOT January)

If you’re looking for me, chances are I’ll be in the Sheraton somewhere.  3 days left.
