We’re back!  Grim’s voice has returned to normal (much to the dismay of ladies everywhere, I’m sure) and Krystalle has finally mustered the strength to try and keep him in line again.

This week’s (sic) SnarkCast covers all sorts of fun stuff.

  • SIEGE Con – Grim goes to a convention which doesn’t require him to work.  Will he survive?
  • World of Darkness – Watch Krystalle nearly pass out from the Squee.
  • Dragon*Con is making some changes for next year.
  • Cataclysm is dropping on December 7th.  Grim expecting to get “sick” that week.
  • DC*MMO is looking for a few good staffers. (Yes, we’re serious)
  • and the proverbial.. “Much Much MORE!”

It is coming.

December 7th, 2010.  A day which will live in infamy as geeks all over the world come down with the same mysterious illness.  World of  Warcraft junkies of the world, get your Christmas shopping done early.  Rumor has it that the game will be available for digital download as well as in the more traditional box format.  Regular edition will cost 39.99, and the Collector’s Edition will run 79.99.

An Oxhorn video from last year…

Do you know of some great Halloween MMO Machinima?  Email it to me!

Rooms at the Marriott for next year’s Dragon*Con went on sale at 8:00 AM this morning.  According to some sources on Twitter, Marriott’s “Passkey” system was woefully unprepared for the avalanche of Dragon*Con peeps looking for rooms.  According to the Marriott Marquis website as well as the “Passkey” website,  all rooms at the Marriott have already sold out. (for the record, it is now 8:30 AM, that’s 1569 rooms gone in a half hour.  DAMN!)

Don’t wait to make reservations folks.  This isn’t Comic-Con where you can make a room reservation the week before the convention.

Blogs are really good for telling everyone what you think, but they don’t do so well at letting everyone tell you what they think.

This is our chance to remedy that.  If you’ve got something to say, then feel free to register and post on our shiny new forums! (Psst.  You can also get there from the main menu at the top of the page.)  We’re fairly tolerant on what you can and can’t say, but we do ask that you do your best to refrain from egregious asshattery.

Cheers!

-Grim

It ain’t polished, touched up, or filtered, but we have finally put our collection of pics from this year’s Dragon*Con online for your viewing pleasure.  If you check out our Multimedia Gallery, you’ll find a link to this year’s pictures.  You can also use the menu bar at the top of this page to get to all of our picture galleries.

Enjoy!

Today be Intarrrrnational Talk Like a Pirate Day.  In honor of the occasion, we be presentin’ ye with the most wonderful of news for MMO fans.

Pirates of the Burning Sea will be going Free-to-Play.  Now be this the most current of news?  Nay, say I.  However, it be appropriate to mention on this most glorious of holidays.

I’ll be watchin’ me favorite movie with Mrs. Grim and Little Grimmette, but for those of ye who may not have said movie available, here’s a wee bit o’ entertainment in honor of the occasion.

Few games really capture the desolation of an apocalyptic wasteland like Fallen Earth.  This first transmission plucked from the aether really showcases that and is moderately sad and depressing… but no one said the end of the world would be a party… a man, his horse, a song and a slow mosey into the sunset:

[Note: this video is a tad dark, you might want to watch it in full screen, which helps]

… on the other hand, the end of the world doesn’t need to be so morose.  This second transmission illustrates a little more whimsy:

End of transmission.

The reports are in, my race is run.
Dragon*Con 2010 is officially done.

That’s all the poetry you get from me for at least 3 weeks.  As of this post, I’m declaring a 3 week moratorium on any use of the word Dragon*Con. (My staff bet me I couldn’t do it… 3 weeks without doing anything for Dragon*Con? That’s just crazy talk?)

That is not to say that I will not snark on things.  Oh yes, the Snark must continue to flow.  However, if I say the words “Dragon*Con” anytime between 9/11/2010 and 10/2/2010, (and get caught… if nobody hears it, it doesn’t count) I lose.

To tide you all over for the next 3 weeks, I’m going to show you guys some videos that didn’t have the chance to be shown during our Machinima panels this year.  Thanks again to Romily for hooking us up with some Grade-A eye candy!

Don’t Make Me Get My Main

Halo, reminxed!

I’m on a Mount!

No really huge notes this time around, since we’re FRIED. Yep, crispy-fried podcast hosts. Still, the important thing is that you get a SnarkCast in a timely fashion, which we’ve delivered.

Sadly, none of the audio from the weekend’s recordings made it (we think whatever weird thing that made Grimmy’s PC play music at chipmunk speed is the same thing that caused the audio to be unusable) but hey – learning experience for next year, when we’ll show you a real snarkcast. :)
